Privacy policy

What we collect

We collect only what you choose to send us. When you fill in the Start your project form, we receive the answers you give, which can include:

• your name, email address and cell number
• your current address and the address of the project
• how you found us
• who will live at the project address, including the number and ages of any children, and any pets
• whether you have worked with a designer before
• details of the project: its type, the home and when it was built, your timeline, the reason for the project, your budget and its scope

When you call or email us, we receive what you tell us in that call or message.

What we do not collect

We never send your name, email address, phone number, either address, or anything you type into the form to an analytics or advertising service. We do not buy information about you from anyone.

Like any website, the service that hosts it (Amazon Web Services) records basic technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, your browser and the page you asked for. These records are used to keep the site secure and working, and nothing else.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses analytics and marketing cookies, described below. A notice on your first visit says so, and lets you turn either kind off: Reject all turns both off, and Manage lets you choose.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out: analytics and marketing start off, and marketing stays off whatever you choose.

Your browser keeps a note of your answer so the notice does not come back on every page; the note holds only your choice. You can change it at any time with the Cookie choices link at the foot of every page. When you turn a kind of cookie off, we delete the cookies it set, and its service is not loaded again.

These are the services involved:

• Google Tag Manager, from Google, which loads the two services below and nothing else. It is not loaded at all while both analytics and marketing are off.
• Google Analytics, from Google (analytics). It counts visits and which pages are read; which of our call, email, map and social media links are used; and when an enquiry is sent, with the kind of project picked from the list. It sets cookies whose names begin _ga. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, and the data is kept for 14 months.
• The Meta Pixel, from Meta (marketing). It records that you visited and whether you sent an enquiry, so that Muse Design Studio's posts can be shown to people who have visited this site. It sets a cookie named _fbp. Automatic advanced matching is switched off. Allowing marketing also lets Google's tags use their advertising cookies; Muse Design Studio runs no Google ads, and ad personalisation is switched off.

What these services never receive: your name, email address, phone number, either address, or any answer you type into the form. The only details sent with an event are fixed labels, such as which link was used or the kind of project picked from the list.

How we use it

We use what you send to reply to you, to arrange a Discovery Call, and to prepare for a consultation and any project that follows. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their marketing.

Where it is kept, and for how long

Your answers are stored securely with Amazon Web Services in the United States, encrypted in transit and at rest. Only Doreen can read them, through a private sign-in protected by a password and a one-time code. The email that tells her a new enquiry has arrived does not contain your answers.

An enquiry is deleted automatically two years after you send it. If you become a client, what we need to carry out your project is kept with your project records.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, at any time. Email dori@musedesignstudio.net or call 617-869-7116 and we will do it.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. The form asks about children in a household only so that a parent can tell us who a room is for.

Links to Instagram, Facebook and Google Maps take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.

If something goes wrong

If a security breach ever affected your information, we would tell you, as Massachusetts law requires.
